Allegan County News - Allegan, Michigan. . . July 13, 2006   Page 7 ![]() Summer Intern     On Saturday, July 29, area churches and faith-based organizations will come together to hold "uniFire," a youth event hosted by Allegan First Baptist Church.     "It's all about reaching the youth of Allegan with the gospel of Jesus Christ," said Lucy Vanvolkingsburg who is on the coordinating committee for the event.   "It's a unified effort of these churches in Allegan to reach kids."     The activities at the event will include inflatable games, a skateboard demo, paintball and ultimate frisbee.   There will also be a speaker and food.     uniFire was first conceived nearly three months ago when Allegan Assembly of God, Barnabas Ministries and Allegan First Church of God decided to have a joint youth activity.     They realized they did not have enough space for the activity and asked First Baptist to join in and allow use of their facilities.   It has since grown to a large youth outreach.   "It's gotten a lot bigger than what we ever planned," said Assembly of God youth-worker Jim Meiser.     The Allegan Christian Center, First Presbyterian Church of Allegan and Main street Ministries are also involved in uniFire.     The event is free and will be at the First Baptist Church from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Click here to report an error on this page. |
